The Mexican Embassy in Italy on the trail of Caravaggio and Leonardo

Do you know “I, Leonardo”, the 2019 film directed by Jesus Garces Lambert and starring Luca Argentero? Here, in that film , is an authentic journey into Leonardo's mind, where the genius meets artists and men of power and confronts himself, millions of people around the world have been able to admire our work.

Works recreated through the Pictography technique, entirely hand painted with the same techniques, methods and colors as five hundred years ago. Large reproductions for an impressive job such as the reconstruction of a 2 x 3 m part of the Last Supper. It took three months to complete, thanks to the consultancy of the prof. Pietro Marani, consultant for the film, considered one of the leading experts on Leonardo. The reconstruction of the missing parts of the work recreated through the traces that can be seen from the x-rays and the connection between the still existing parts of the clothes and the characters, have given life to a true masterpiece.

The Baptism of Christ, a painting, told in the journey of "I, Leonardo" is the result of a joint effort with Leonardo's master, Verrocchio . This is what Giorgio Vasari wrote:

Making a panel where Saint John was baptizing Christ, Leonardo created an Angel holding some robes; and although he was young, he executed it in such a manner that Leonardo's Angel was much better than the figures of Andrea. Which was the reason that Andrea never wanted to touch colors again, indignant that a child knew more than him.

As was the case with the documentary film on Michelangelo, in this film too, art tells the story of art; cinema narrates great artists like the work of Bottega Tifernate, bringing the masterpieces of art history closer to the general public.

These and many other works were the protagonists of the event "On the trail of Caravaggio and Leonardo" on Thursday 2 July which took place at the Mexican Embassy in Italy in the presence of the Ambassador. HE Carlos Eugenio Garcia de Alba. A meeting lasting over two hours, which also saw among those present the Ambassador of Chile, that of Mexico to the Holy See and the former Italian Ambassador to the United States; and then Mediaset and Rai journalists, successful directors and writers. An audience selected for a dialogue between our Stefano Lazzari and the director of "I, Leonardo" Jesus Garces Lambert.

And after the works of Leonardo and Caravaggio, a gift closed this meeting: our homage to the Ambassador of Mexico who made us guests and protagonists of this event, the sketch created for the Holy Father's favorite painting, the White Crucifixion of Chagall.
