The beauty of art: the Madonna and Child of Selci

We are honoured to share with you a special project that has involved us deeply: the recreation of the work ‘Madonna with Saints’ by Francesco Tifernate. The original work was in the Church of Sant'Andrea in Selci and is now on display in the Diocesan Museum in Città di Castello. Thanks to the initiative of parish priest Fr Paolino Trani, we have restored a perfect copy, using our patented pictography technique, to the original position in which the work was admired for centuries.

Pictography: a unique art in the world

Our workshop was called upon to perform this prestigious task, combining passion and expertise to recreate such an important work. Pictography is a unique technique that allows ancient masterpieces to be reproduced identical to the originals, thanks to the use of paint and finishes similar to those used centuries ago. This allows us to recreate the emotion and pathos one feels in front of an original work of art, giving back to the community the beauty of a masterpiece that is part of its history and tradition.

The creative process

Our reproduction began with a high-resolution photographic shot of the original work; we then carried out an in-depth study of the colours and composition to ensure that every detail was faithful to the original. For us, it is essential to convey the sense of wonder and refinement typical of Renaissance art, thus contributing to the dissemination of the cultural and artistic heritage of our territory.

The presentation event

We are pleased to announce that the Madonna with Saints will be officially presented and blessed this Friday, 27 September at 6 p.m. at the Church of Sant'Andrea in Selci, in the presence of Bishop Luciano Paolucci Bedini and the mayor of San Giustino, Stefano Veschi. During the event, we will hear a report on the history of the work by Nadia Burzigotti, followed by the intervention of the founder of Bottega Tifernate Stefano Lazzari, who will illustrate the work carried out by our workshop.

We would like to sincerely thank the newspapers Corriere Umbria and La Nazione for their support and for helping to make this initiative known to a wider public. For over 30 years, Bottega Tifernate has been dedicated to the reproduction of works of art, certified by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, with the aim of making the masterpieces of the past immortal. For us, each work is a journey through time, a way to transmit the beauty and soul of art to future generations. Thank you all for your continued support and for believing with us in the power of art and culture.
