History
Giorgio de Chirico's The Painter's Family is an enigmatic work, where time and space seem suspended. Created in 1926, it depicts motionless, solemn figures, inspired by the artist's family memories, but transformed into faceless mannequins and classical statues. The atmosphere is dreamlike: a silent room, unreal lights and objects charged with symbolism, such as columns and drawing instruments, evoke the metaphysical dimension typical of De Chirico. The painting is not a simple portrait, but a journey into memory and identity, where the past mixes with the present in a play of mystery and nostalgia. The work falls within the period in which the artist explored the theme of the family through the lens of metaphysical painting, probably inspired by his personal memories.
