Bottega Tifernate for The Name of The Rose
A great global success of which Italy can be proud: it is the success of The Name of the Rose , the novel by Umberto Eco. And now Rai, 40 years after the release of the book first in Italy and then throughout the world, hopes that the TV series produced in 2018 and broadcast in 2019 free-to-air on Rai 1 can also have the same success. Four episodes of The Name of the Rose, four evenings in the company of a captivating story, a mystery that will lead us to investigate with the protagonists. A story that also takes us back in time, full of charm and intrigue. A story linked to the 1300s but always current and modern, also for this reason, always so loved by those who have read the novel.
The tapestries, the stained glass windows and the large frescoes were commissioned from the Bottega Tifernate: a highly demanding job, given the enormous size of some of the works. The artists of the workshop worked for months in order to exactly recreate tapestries, frescoes and stained glass windows taken from important medieval works. The work was carried out following very strict construction criteria relevant to the historical period. Colours, materials and reconstruction techniques are the same used by fourteenth-century painters.
It is an honor to be able to tell our friends about it, a success that we are all proud of and which leads us to tenaciously continue our studies. Collaborating with a master like Francesco Frigeri (he designed the series) is not only satisfying but also a great lesson in life and style.
